Who’s an ideal candidate for IPL Vascular Therapy?
IPL Vascular Therapy is not suitable for every individual. Although the treatment is well tolerated by many patients, certain medical conditions, medications, and skin characteristics may increase risk or affect treatment outcomes.
IPL may not be appropriate if you have:
Active skin infection, inflammation, or open wounds in the treatment area
Recent sun exposure, sunburn, or use of self-tanning products
Pregnancy
Use of photosensitising medications
Very dark skin tones or certain Fitzpatrick skin types
A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
A compromised immune system
Uncontrolled diabetes or other unmanaged medical conditions
A comprehensive consultation with registered nurse Kurt is required to assess your medical history, skin type, and treatment goals. This ensures IPL Vascular Therapy is both safe and clinically appropriate for your individual circumstances.
What is IPL Vascular Therapy?
IPL Vascular Therapy is a light-based aesthetic treatment designed to selectively target visible blood vessels and redness within the skin. It is commonly used to treat concerns such as broken capillaries, facial redness, rosacea-related flushing, and other superficial vascular lesions.
How does it work?
By delivering controlled pulses of light energy, IPL works to coagulate and reduce targeted vessels, promoting a clearer, more even-toned complexion with reduced redness and improved overall skin clarity.
Is it painful?
No, it is not painful, but you will feel a “flicking” type sensation often described as a rubber band flicking the skin.
Is there any downtime?
No. IPL skin treatments require no downtime. You can resume your normal daily activities immediately afterwards. Some redness may occur which will settle within a few hours. During your initial consultation and after every appointment you will be provided with appropriate aftercare instructions.
How many treatments will you need?
The number of IPL Vascular Therapy sessions required varies depending on the severity of vascular concerns, skin type, and individual response to treatment. Most clients achieve noticeable improvement after 2–4 sessions, spaced several weeks apart, while some may benefit from additional treatments to optimise results.
During your consultation, a personalised treatment plan will be developed to achieve the best possible outcomes for your skin.
Are the results long lasting?
Most clients experience long-lasting improvement following IPL Vascular Therapy. However, factors such as ongoing sun exposure, adherence to sun protection, underlying rosacea or vascular conditions, lifestyle influences, and overall skin health can affect the recurrence of redness or visible vessels over time.
Maintenance treatments may be recommended to support sustained results and continued skin clarity.
